What Is A Periodontist?
Periodontist (“peri”-around, “odont”-tooth) is a dentist with three years of additional training, who specializes in the gum, bone, and connective tissues that surround and support your teeth- basically, everything that attaches your teeth to you. Dr. Scholes received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Oregon Health Sciences University, and then completed his residency in and received a Specialty Certificate in Periodontics and a Master’s Degree in Immunology at Northwestern University.
Dr. Scholes is an experienced specialist in the treatment of periodontal disease and implantology. His Master’s degree in Immunology gives Dr. Scholes an advanced level of knowledge in how periodontal diseases and systemic diseases (general body) impact each other. In addition to many tooth saving techniques, Dr. Scholes and our team can assist you and your dentist in creating your best smile.
We are fully staffed with caring and dedicated professionals who are eager to assist you with questions about the variety of treatments we offer. We work closely with your general dentist and his/her team. These treatments include cosmetic periodontal plastic surgery to cover exposed roots (long teeth), or removal of excess gum tissue (gummy smile), dental implant placement, Same Day Smile (All-On-4/Teeth In A Day), Bone Regeneration, Pocket Reduction Surgery, Crown Lengthening, Frenectomy (Orthodontic space closure).
Your optimal oral health is our first priority. Please call our office or email us with questions today. We look forward to working with you.
